The image of the hand axe is a visual instruction for our primitive ancestors.
By dismantling linear time and presenting an image of their future to them, we are the inventors of our present, adopting the tactics of prophetic branding.
We force the hand axe into being from the future (now) to the past (primitive human) using the image of the hand-axe, our hyperstitional object. We define what beauty is to them, planting an instructive seed in the primordial mind. We invent consumptive desire with an alien artifact, defining what an object of desire looks like. The hand axe, or rather, the image of the hand axe becomes the self-prophetic symbol of our present, of Capitalism. We create the very condition of our present—in recognising this fact, we (society) are able to imagine or recover “lost futures”; a post-capitalist world.
By invading the primordial mind we are inventing a hyperstitional narrative—we are the inventors of the hand axe—by “transmuting fiction into reality” (Land). We become catalysts for others to imagine, or not, alternative possible futures; changing culture from the future (beyond 2017) backwards.
In re-imagining the narrative of the hand axe, we are responding to Carsten’s call for “new stories to guide us into the future”—destroying the past in an act of “evolutionary metamorphosis”.
If we stand back and observe the self-perpetuating, self-prophetic nature of Capitalism, are we able to imagine worlds beyond a futureless present.
Hyperstition as a tool for reflexivity.
“The hyperstitional object is no mere figment or ‘social construction’ but it is in a very real way ‘conjured’ into being by the approach taken to it” (Land).

Prophetic branding
Hyperstition is the fundamental mechanism of contemporary capitalism … capitalism sells products and to sell the products, through the brand especially, it presents an image of the future, which then organises the present and consumptive desire in order to make the brand successful and so on, and produce the very future that it has presented, so the image that the brand presents becomes the organising force for consumption in the present, and produces the future of, which is the success of the brand (Malik, HYPERSTITION).

A WAY OF CLASSIFYING AND STORING THE HUGE FLOOD OF EVENTS WHICH HER HIS DAWNING MIND HAD OPENED FOR HIM HER LIKE A DOG BURYING A LARGE BONE, THE INVENTION OF TIME ALLOWED HER TO POSTPONE THE RECOGNITION OF AN EVENT SYSTEM TOO LARGE FOR HER TO GRASP IN ONE BITE (HYPERSTITION).
All alternative futures are obsolete,
“it is easier to imagine the end of the world than to imagine the end of capitalism”
(Jameson, FUTURE CITY).
Disrupting linear narrative
“Templexing—time folding—is central to hyperstition, as it exposes the control structures dependent on linear accumulation (language being a particularly insidious perpetrator)” (Horowitz 206).
““K-tactics,” explains Land, “is not a matter of building the future, but dismantling the past … and escaping the technical neurochemical deficiency conditions for linear-progressive [narratives]” (1995:13)” (Carstens).
